Welcome to the Old Master Trade Schools' series of non-accredited courses. We would like to thank you for your interest. These courses are designed for individuals wishing to upgrade their personal or professional skills.

Homeowners, who would like to make repairs or upgrades to their home, will find that our courses are going to help them to do the work themselves. Homeowners will be able to save hundreds on home remodeling projects. These classes will pay for themselves many times over. For the cost of one repair, the homeowner will have the skills needed to carry on with all their home improvements and repair tasks.

Professionals will fine this an excellent way to up-grade their job skills, making themselves more valuable in the workforce. For the investment of one Saturday, they gain enough knowledge to add new skill areas to their resume.

Students will find that construction is a great way to stay in shape and make money over the summer. They will also find that the construction industry pays a bit more than jobs in fast food service. With five skill classes to shoes from, we have what it takes to get them started.

One eight-hour Saturday class will give you what you need to meet your current goals. For a one-time commitment, you will gain skills that last forever. Feel free to call our office for more information or stop by our facilities for a tour. We’re looking forward to it.

Students are encouraged to bring questions concerning any current or future projects.

Each class is 8 hours of hand-on learning designed specifically for the homeowner and handyman.

Individual classes include:
Carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, tile

Single class: $235
Any two classes: $425
All 5 classes: $1000

Homeowners Drywall Class:
8 hours - 1 Saturday - $235
Lab & Lecture
Includes lunch - Class begins at 8 am
Registration and payment must be completed in advance.

Learn how to:

  • Choose and calculate the proper materials for your project
  • Tools - different types and their uses
  • Install new drywall - proper fastening applications, cutting and shaping
  • Tape and bed
  • Texture new and repair drywall
  • Different textures and application methods
  • Repair damaged drywall

Homeowners Tile Class:
8 hours - 1 Saturday - $235
Lab & Lecture
Includes lunch - Class begins at 8 am
Registration and payment must be completed in advance.

Learn how to:

  • Choose the proper materials and calculate the amounts needed for your project.
  • Tools - different types and their uses – how to safely use a tile saw and grinder
  • Install new tile - various adhesives and layouts
  • Remove / Repair damaged tile and grout
  • Choose, install and prepare substrate materials to receive tile
  • Seal tile - technique and materials

Homeowners Electrical Class:
8 hours - 1 Saturday - $235
Lab & Lecture
Includes lunch - Class begins at 8 am
Registration and payment must be completed in advance.

Learn how to:

  • Choose the proper materials for your project
  • Basic electrical safety
  • Properly use electrical tools
  • Make secure connections of wire to devises
  • Install dimming switches outlets and low voltage lighting
  • Brace, hang and wire ceiling fans
  • Install a new lighting switch or receptacle
  • Safely and properly turn off power at service panel or main breaker

Homeowners Plumbing Class:
8 hours - 1 Saturday - $235
Lab & Lecture
Includes lunch - Class begins at 8 am
Registration and payment must be completed in advance.

Learn how to:

  • Choose and calculate the proper materials for your project
  • Change out / install faucets and sinks
  • Change out / install hot water heaters
  • Repair household leaks – faucets, pipes and values
  • Glue PVC, CPVC, and ABS plastic pipes (irrigation systems)
  • Change out / install toilets, and repair float and fill mechanisms
  • Service your swamp cooler
  • Properly use plumbing tools

Homeowners Carpentry Class:
8 hours - 1 Saturday - $235
Lab & Lecture
Includes lunch - Class begins at 8 am
Registration and payment must be completed in advance.

Learn how to:

  • Choose and calculate the proper materials for your project
  • Properly use a tape measure
  • Properly use a hammer and nails
  • Safely operate the basic hand and power tools used to cut wood
  • Repair a pre-hung door and install hardware
  • Basic trim installation - baseboard and casing
  • Basic framing
